Chapter History

The Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti-Inkster Alumni Chapter was established on December 6, 1958, originally as the Inkster Alumni Chapter. The original membership totaled 20 members. The purpose of this chapter was three-fold:

  1. Reclamation Kappa
  2. Support and guidance for the Sigma (University of Michigan) and Delta Nu (Eastern Michigan University) undergraduate chapters
  3. Guidance and inspiration for youth in suburban Detroit

On September 18, 1970, The Inkster Alumni Chapter was rechartered as the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Alumni Chapter. During the ensuing years, the Chapter has grown in number to become the third largest Alumni Chapter in the Northern Province. The Chapter has produced a Grand Chapter Polemarch, Robert L. Gordon, and many other members have served the Fraternity on Local, Provincial and Grand Chaper levels. In the Fraternity, the community and throughout cities and states, Kappa Alpha Psi members are known for their dedication to achievement and hard work.
